About Us.

About The Program

Progress House is a residential recovery program for alcohol and/or drug dependent men who are looking to rebuild their lives. The program has been successfully operating in Indianapolis for 45 years. We are a community of around 70 men, and an average length of stay is 6 to 12 months. The men who come to Progress House have often lost a great deal in their lives (lost jobs, lost bank accounts, lost health insurance, lost cars & driver’s license, lost freedom through incarceration, lost homes, lost contact with family & true friends). Progress House offers its residents an opportunity to build a stable recovery and change the circumstances of their lives.

Mission Statement

Progress House is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), long term residential program for adult males suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse. Its residents are required to work full-time and contribute both financially and through on site housekeeping duties.

Our commitment to those we serve:

  • Recovery from addiction
  • Return to full participation in the community and family life
  • Realized hope in their own lives through life skills guidance and 12 step recovery principles.

Since 1961, Progress House has provided care and direction to low-income, mostly homeless persons, at risk in the greater Indianapolis area.

Vision Statement

Progress House is committed to enlarging the scope of its mission to include a three quarter way house program, which will allow longer term residential living in close physical proximity to the existing house. These residents will experience a somewhat less structured environment, with more freedom of choice, but always guided by their earlier successful efforts and the principles of the twelve-step program (first given us by Alcoholics Anonymous).
