Progress House is home to 72 men whose typical length of stay ranges from 90 days to 12 months. The House provides a secure, comfortable bed, three meals per day plus laundry facilities, a serene Chapel and a well-stocked library.
The Progress House is safe and secure. Security cameras are maintained in all common areas and the Control Desk is manned twenty-four hours each day. Progress House provides the support of a professional, recovering Staff. Successful Progress House alumni, who have long-term sobriety, regularly return to the House for meetings and to talk and with new residents.
Most halfway houses have essentially the same philosophy and goals; to provide an environment conducive to sober living and to reintroduce residents to basic, necessary life skills that may have been neglected due to addicition. What sets the Progress House program apart is its wide-ranging and well-orded process of implementing those goals. There is a system of review to assist residents in the transition from entry level to ever-increasing levels of responsibility as they mature through the working of the 12-step recovery process. Included are the expectations - and requirements - that residents participate in their own recovery and in the daily life of the House, a scheme of discipline to enforce rules fairly and encourage honest self-correction.
"This comprehensive approach and the intangible values and qualities make the Progress House what it is - an institution that not only treats the symptoms of our disease, but that also works towards rebuilding happy, healthy and productive members of society."

The Progress House Requires:
-Complete abstinence from alcohol and other drugs.
-Men must work and pay $170.00 rent each week.
-Rent covers room and three meals per day.
-Not all men are employed when entering Progress House, but they must be actively seeking work and should secure a job within two weeks of their initial residency.
-All men must perform routine household chores "Team Details" which is how the clean, home-like atmosphere of the House is maintained.
-All men must participate in daily 12-Step meetings and must have a sponsor within 30 days of entering the house. We require a minimum 90-day residency commitment.
-Residents are required to treat fellow residents and Staff with respect. Any violent, threatening language or behavior is grounds for immediate eviction.
-There is a weekly House Community Meeting, run by residents, with Staff present, to discuss house issues and to hold residents accountable. Positive behavior is also recognized as a reinforcement of Program benefits.
